Čajniče Monastery

The Monastery of the Dormition of the Holy Virgin is a Serbian Ortodox monastery situated in Čajniče, Republika Srpska.

There are two churches, the new and the old one. The first church dates from 15th century, and the new one was built in 1857.

This beautiful church is known for the icon of the Holy Virgin. This is an example of icon painting in Bosnia dating from pre - Ottoman period.

Historians believe that this icon was painted around 1329-1330.
