Ajvatovica is the largest Islamic traditional, religious and cultural event in Europe and one of the oldest pilgrimage of Muslims in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The story of the rock dividing dates back to the legend of Ajvaz Dedo, a highly ambitious grandfather who worked tirelessly on improving his new homeland and the education of the people.

The story of the rock dividing dates back to the legend of Ajvaz Dedo, a highly ambitious grandfather who worked tirelessly on improving his new homeland and the education of the people. 

According to legend, before the arrival of Dedo Ajvaz, Prucas has no water supply so he decided to pray for water. He found a powerful spring but in the vicinity of the source was a rock 74m long and 30m high. After he prayed to Allah for 40 days to break the rock, he dreamt that two white rams collided and split the rock where water began to flow. 

Seeing it as a sign of God's miracle and blessing, people began going to Ajvatovica every year. Bajraks, horses, Takbirs, Islamic songs are an integral part of the spirit of Ajatovica
