Jewish Museum, Sarajevo

The Jewish Museum or Museum of the Jews of Bosnia and Herzegovina is located in the old Synagogue, the oldest synagogue in Bosnia and Herzegovina built in 1581. The museum represents the finest exhibition in the whole ex-Yugoslavia, with aesthetically pleasing and well designed space dedicated to the city's long Jewish history.

On entering the Synagogue, you will step into another different world, which reminds you of the centuries-old presence of the Jews in this country. Along with religious artifacts the museum displays personal and professional objects associated with notable local writers, artists, composers and humanitarian workers whose contribution to development of this country was very huge.
