Papraća Monastery
The Papraća Monastery is a Serbian Orthodox monastery.

The Papraća Monastery is a Serbian Orthodox monastery. It is located in the Papraća village, in the municipality of Šekovići, Bosnia and Herzegovina. This beautiful church is devoted to the Annunciation.

However, the exact date of its substruction is obscure, but modern Ottoman writings give us the attestation that this monastery existed in the 16th century. After the Austro-Turkish War of 1716-18, the monastery „Papraća“ was ruined, but later on, the construction works were allowed by Ottoman authorities and it  was rebuilt in 1853.

Subsequently, in 1880, monastic life was restored in Papraća. During the World War II, this monastery was wrecked and its valuables were stolen. So, in 1954, it was repaired, mostly through efforts by nun Varvara Božić from the Tavna Monastery.

The Papraća Monastery was designated as a National Monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2005.
