Bobovac is a established city of medieval Bosnia and Herzegovina. Nowadays it is situated near the village of Borovica and Vareš.

Bobovac is a established city of medieval Bosnia and Herzegovina. Nowadays it is situated near the village of Borovica and Vareš.

The city was constructed during the reign of Ban of Bosnia, Stephen II. It was first indicated in a document dating from 1349. 

During the war with the Ottoman Empire, Bosnian King Stephen Tomašević moved the royal seat to Jajce. The Ottomans invaded the city in 1463. Its fall accelerated the Ottoman triumph of Bosnia.

Bobovac contained the crown jewels of Bosnia. Nine skeletons have been found in the five tombs. Those are belonging to kings Dabiša, Ostoja, Ostojić, Tvrtko II and Thomas.

It is reputed that one of the skeletons belongs to the last king called Tomašević,  from Jajce.
