Bosnian Šape or Bear Paws

Šape are one of the most popular, traditional Bosnian cookies and one of the  most loved treats.  

In English,  šapa simply means a “paw“. Šape are made from simple ingredients, readily available in the household.

Bear paws are made for special occasions, such as: birthdays, feasts, weddings, christenings, Christmas and so on.

Ingredients:

2 sticks of butter

1.5 cups of sugar

3 cups of flour

1.5 cups of ground walnuts

1 teaspoon of baking powder

2 eggs

1/2 cup of powdered sugar
