The mountain Maglić borders Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. It is oriented in a northwest-southeast direction. Foča city is 20 kilometres away from the Maglić, near the border with Montenegro.

The section of Montenegro, of Maglić massif, has formed the Trnovačko Lake. There are also the headwaters of Sutjeska River in the canyon parts of the highest mountain in the Bosnia and Herzegovina.
