One of the favourite local dishes in the Balkans is krompiruša, especially in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is a layerd pastry filled with chopped potatoes. Most people mix potatoes with onion for better taste. It is also made in the countries such as Croatia and Serbia. 

Each type of filling gives the pita a different name. For exapmle, pita filled with meat is called burek, with cheese is called sirnica, with spinach is zeljanica, with potatoes is called krompiruša. It is rolled in a spiral or can be lined up straight and it cup up into sections for serving. If you buy krompiruša directly from bakeries, you will get them in the original rolled-up form. Krompiruša served with yogurt or ajran is truly tasty and also wonderfully simple to make.
