The river Pliva joins the river Vrbas diving from a cliff and thus forms a waterfall, but to add to its beauty, it widens upstream into two lakes, the Small and the Large Pliva Lake. The Lakes are 5 kilometers away from Jajce upstream the river Pliva.

The Great Pliva Lake lies at 424 m. above sea level. Its length is 3.3 km and it has a maximum width of 660 m. (average width of 343 m.). The maximum depth of the lake is 33 m. The temperature of the water is around 15 ° C.

The Small Pliva Lake is 1.5 km long and has an average width of around 150 m. Along this Lake, a beach was developed for swimming and you will find that it is a lovely setting for relaxation.

However, beauty has a practical purpose here as well. The water of the lakes has a high specific density, so it is suitable for sports activities: kayaking, canoeing, rowing etc. For the same reason, the european and world championships in kayaking and canoeing were held there in the sixties and the seventies of last century.

It is worth mentioning that the lakes are home to a variety of fish (brown and rainbow trout, grayling, carp, tench, etc.), which makes them attractive for fishing. The lakes are surrounded by cliffs, hills and hillocks covered with forest, so that it makes this area suitable for hiking, mountain-biking, or simply going for walks and enjoying the scenery that cannot be seen from the lake.

The lakes are a special attraction to both the local population and the many tourists who have found this special haven particularly appealing during the spring and summer months.
