During this period of territorial expansion of Bosnia under the rule of the Kotromanics, Srebrenik was a capital of the medieval Bosnia, encompassing the wide area bounded by the Sava river from the north, Zadar and Knin from the west and Herceg Novi from the southest.

There is no doubt that Srebrenik had some important role in defense system of the Bosnia against Hungarian empire of that era. After the death of the Bosnian king Stefan I Kotoromanic Srebrenik falls in the hands of Hungarians in 1393. In 1512 Srebrenik is conquered by Turks after 10 days siege.

Today Srebrenik Old Town is, officially, a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina and an attraction that should have its place on all tourist maps. At the same time, it is one of the best preserved medieval fortresses with a very special natural environment and dominant position.
