Kuršumlija madrasah is the Secondary Islamic School. It was buit in 1537. as one of the Ghazi Husrev Bey's endowments and is devoted to his mother Selcuka. She was a Turkish princess and a daughter of Sultan Bayezid II.

At the time, it was one of the major European universities. People called it „Kuršumlija“ bacause of its lead roof (tur. Kursum-lead). This madrasah reflects a marvelous and majestic design of that period with central atrium surrounded by porches, pillars and twelve classrooms. Each room is under a turret and has its own fireplace.

A fountain decorates the Hellinistic yard, and the etnire construcion serves as an art exhibition place. Within the same yard  is the pretty, colonnaded Haniqah. It was originally built as a Nasqbandi sufi school, but now hosts occasional exhibitions.
