Brod, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Brod is a town and municipality sitauted on the south bank of the river Sava. It is actually in the northern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Brod is located in the western part of the Posavina region and northwestern part of the Republika Srpska entity.
Before the Bosnian War, it was "Bosanski Brod", but after the war the official name is only Brod. However, the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska removed the prefix Bosanski resulting in the name Brod.
Nowadays, its formal name is "Brod", without the prefix Bosanski or Srpski. On the opposite site of the Sava, there is the Croatian town of "Slavonski Brod". The bridge over the Sava River at Brod was amplified by NATO, using troops of the U.S., just to keep open a link between the two countries.
